An additional 7MW of mining deployment fills the K1BC phase of the operating facility; the agreement is separate from Kati 2’s AI development.

Bitdeer has expanded its deployment agreement at Soluna’s Project Kati 1 from 28MW to 35MW. The additional 7MW brings total planned mining capacity under the arrangement to approximately 2.42 exahashes per second, with deployment targeted for November 2026.

The underlying announcement dates to September 24. Later coverage should not turn it into a new October 9 agreement. It is included as a commercial update to the operating South Texas facility.

An expansion within an operating facility

Project Kati 1 is an 83MW facility, and its K1BC phase is now fully subscribed. The agreement increases the customer’s deployment within that operating asset rather than establishing an entirely new 35MW campus.

The distinction changes the construction interpretation. An equipment deployment can involve installation and operational coordination without implying a newly announced building-construction contract. The release does not identify a fresh general-contractor appointment for this expansion.

Who supplies the infrastructure and the mining equipment

Soluna describes the arrangement as co-mining: it supplies the site, power and turnkey operations, while Bitdeer owns and supplies the mining equipment. The companies share the mining proceeds. The amendment retains that structure, rather than converting the relationship into a conventional lease for a newly constructed building.

The additional 7MW is a 25% increase over the original 28MW deployment commitment. That is a useful measure of the amendment’s scale within the partnership, but it is not a 25% increase in the 83MW facility itself. The two percentages would describe different bases.

Electrical capacity and computing output need separate measures

Megawatts describe electrical power, while exahashes per second describe the rate of the mining computations. A larger power commitment can support more equipment, but computing output also depends on the machines deployed and how they operate. The announced 2.42EH/s is the planned total associated with this deployment, not a separate measure of building size.

That distinction is important when comparing Kati 1 with AI infrastructure. A mining deployment and an AI data hall can have different equipment, networking and operating requirements even if both are described in megawatts. The November milestone should therefore be assessed against this specific mining arrangement, while any construction or leasing commitments for the separate Kati 2 development remain on their own timetable.

Keep Kati 1 and Kati 2 separate

Kati 2 is a separate AI data-center development. Its proposed scope, budget and delivery milestones should not be used to describe the mining deployment at Kati 1. Sharing a project name does not make the two phases interchangeable.

The next relevant milestone for the Bitdeer arrangement is deployment against the November target. Confirmation that equipment has been installed and placed into service would be more informative than a repeated statement of contracted megawatts. The commercial expansion is material, but its impact should be measured through the operating facility and the equipment covered by this agreement.
