H-E-B Buys Southwest Fort Worth Site, Targets Late-2028 Opening

The grocer plans an early-2027 construction start on more than 20 acres at Chisholm Trail Parkway and Oakmont Boulevard, within Cassco’s Overland development.
H-E-B has purchased more than 20 acres in southwest Fort Worth for a store within the Overland master-planned development. The retailer announced October 2 that construction is expected to begin in early 2027, with an opening targeted for late 2028.
The site sits at the northeast corner of Chisholm Trail Parkway and Oakmont Boulevard. It forms part of the 250-acre Overland community being developed by Cassco on Edwards Ranch land.

Land secured, detailed store plans still developing
H-E-B says plans for the store are still being developed and additional information will follow. Its announcement does not establish a construction budget, building floor area or project-team appointments. The landholding should not be reported as the footprint of the store itself.
That leaves the project at a meaningful but early stage for construction readers. An identified site and owner timetable provide a basis for tracking progress. The eventual building configuration and delivery packages will require more detailed announcements or filings.
TCH’s assessment is that the next planning documents will be useful for understanding how the store relates to the wider development. Access, parking, servicing and utility connections are part of the site design, even where the public announcement focuses on the retail building. No specific layout for those elements is confirmed here.
A retail anchor within a wider community
Cassco is the Edwards family’s development business, with a history that includes Clearfork and other Fort Worth communities. Overland places the proposed store within a larger development rather than an isolated retail parcel.
For the construction market, that creates a reason to follow both the store and the surrounding infrastructure. A retailer’s intended opening can be an important scheduling reference for related work, but it should not be treated as a completion date for the entire community.
Nor does the announcement prove that additional commercial tenants have committed to neighboring parcels. Those would be separate projects requiring their own evidence, budgets and delivery schedules.
The milestones before opening
The immediate indicators are detailed plans, any state registration, a confirmed project team and evidence of mobilization in the owner’s early-2027 target window. Later milestones will include building completion and preparation for retail operations ahead of the late-2028 opening objective.
The project gives southwest Fort Worth a specific store location and a published timetable. For now, those are the confirmed markers to follow; a precise building value or construction award should wait for the supporting record.
