Houston Advances Funding for Eddington Lift Station Replacement

The sewer program carries a city-listed budget of approximately $96.9 million, with different published schedule baselines requiring reconciliation.
Houston’s Eddington Lift Station replacement is advancing through funding and preconstruction work, with October 14 council reporting identifying additional support for the sewer program. The city’s project page lists a total budget of $96,903,360 for Package 4.
The program includes a replacement lift station and wet-weather storage infrastructure. These facilities manage how wastewater is moved through the system, with storage helping address the additional demands associated with wet-weather conditions.

Different figures describe different records
The city budget is not identical to the $90 million estimated construction value in the state accessibility registration. The latter describes a registered scope of approximately 6,000 square feet. Neither figure should automatically be treated as the value of an awarded construction contract.
Reporting on the council action refers to approximately $9 million of additional funding. That amount should not simply be added to the city’s published total without confirming the budget baseline and the action’s relationship to it. The current update therefore preserves the city-listed total.
Two published schedules
The city project page indicates summer 2027 through fall 2029. The state registration instead lists March 1, 2027 through June 1, 2029. These are different planning baselines, not confirmation that construction has already begun.
The project’s final procurement and construction documents should establish the operative dates. A registration is useful evidence of intended work, but its estimated dates are not proof of mobilization, commissioning or completion.
Interfaces across the sewer network
A lift-station replacement has to connect to an operating wastewater system. Maintaining service during tie-ins and testing is therefore a central delivery consideration. The public material reviewed does not establish the precise temporary arrangements or construction sequence.
Related upstream sewer work is separately identified as Package 5. Keeping those packages distinct avoids double-counting costs or attributing all network improvements to the lift-station building. The next useful milestone is a confirmed construction procurement or award with a reconciled schedule.
