The completed transaction brings gathering and processing assets into ONEOK, including the Cassidy II expansion targeted for the third quarter of 2027.

ONEOK has completed its $4.425 billion acquisition of Brazos Midstream’s Midland Basin assets, expanding its natural-gas gathering and processing position. The transaction was announced as completed on October 6 and includes infrastructure still being developed.

The purchase price is the value of an acquisition. It must not be presented as the construction budget for Cassidy II or as a newly awarded engineering and construction contract.

Cassidy II is the construction milestone to follow

ONEOK expects the Cassidy II processing expansion to enter service in the third quarter of 2027. Following that addition, it describes the acquired system as including approximately 700 miles of pipelines and 1.2 billion cubic feet per day of processing capacity.

The company also puts its wider Midland Basin processing position at approximately 2.3 billion cubic feet per day when projects under construction are included. That is a portfolio measure rather than capacity at a single plant.

Ownership changes do not identify every work package

Construction readers should focus on the remaining expansion scope, commissioning schedule and connections to the gathering system. Those details identify deliverable infrastructure more precisely than the acquisition headline.

The reviewed transaction announcement does not establish an EPC or general-contractor appointment for the expansion. Any subsequent team update should be tied to the named facility and role rather than inferred from work on other ONEOK assets.

Processing and gathering have to work as a system

A processing expansion depends on the gathering network that supplies it and the downstream connections that carry its products. Project readiness should be evaluated across those interfaces, rather than by the processing plant’s stated capacity alone.

The transaction announcement offers a target for Cassidy II but does not provide a package-by-package construction schedule. Mechanical completion, testing and operating handover may be separate milestones. Future updates should identify which event the third-quarter-2027 target represents and whether supporting connections are on the same timetable.
