Harris County Secures Another Year for Harvey Flood Projects
The extension gives delayed flood-control projects more time to retain federal recovery funding, including a group of 28 projects linked to more than $860 million.
Harris County has received a one-year extension for Hurricane Harvey recovery projects after federal approval of a Texas General Land Office request. The county confirmed it would accept the additional time.
The decision affects a delayed construction pipeline: local reporting identifies 28 flood-control projects associated with more than $860 million in federal funding.

More time to deliver existing work
The extension preserves time to progress existing infrastructure and mitigation work. It does not represent a new $860 million construction award or establish that all affected projects are at the same delivery stage.
The practical focus now shifts to project-level progress and expenditure within the extended grant timetable. Design, procurement and field delivery remain separate milestones for the individual schemes.
