Nearly $18M in Filed Renovations Put Two West Houston Hotels in the Construction Pipeline

A $17 million Hilton Westchase guestroom project and a $991,553 Hyatt Regency Houston West public-space refurbishment carry separate construction schedules extending into 2027.

Two west Houston hotels have registered renovation projects totaling just under $18 million, adding guestroom and public-area construction to the city’s hospitality pipeline. The filings cover different scopes and should not be read as one combined hotel redevelopment.

Hilton Houston Westchase, at 9999 Westheimer Road, has a $17 million registration for guestroom improvements. Hyatt Regency Houston West, at 13210 Katy Freeway, has registered a $991,553 refurbishment of first-floor public spaces. Both are listed as renovation or alteration projects, with estimated schedules running into 2027.

Hilton: a defined guestroom package

The Hilton registration, TABS2027003415, was filed on October 13. Its 157,000-square-foot scope covers guestrooms, their bathrooms and guestroom corridors. The recorded start is December 1, 2026, with estimated completion on July 1, 2027.

That definition is narrower than a renovation of every part of the hotel. Public areas and broader property improvements have also featured in earlier coverage, but the $17 million figure in this registration belongs to the stated guestroom package. It should not automatically be added to older announced budgets as though each figure represents separate, non-overlapping work.

Hyatt: more than a lobby refresh

Hyatt’s October 15 registration, TABS2027003627, identifies 55,952 square feet of first-floor work. The scope includes reception, a restaurant and bar, restrooms, the Texas Ballroom, meeting rooms, a fitness center, the elevator lobby and an outdoor porch.

The filing lists January 15, 2027, through April 15, 2027, as its estimated construction period. Describing this only as a lobby project understates the public-space scope recorded with the state.

Separate October 16 reporting says guestroom improvements are also expected at the property, with wider work anticipated through 2027. Their cost and detailed start schedule have not been confirmed. The $991,553 filing should therefore remain attached to the public-space package rather than presented as the budget for all planned Hyatt renovations.

What the filings do and do not establish

These registrations provide specific scopes, estimated costs and planned dates. They do not establish that either hotel has already started this work, completed contractor procurement or fixed an operating reopening date. No general contractor or installing mechanical, electrical or plumbing subcontractor has been verified for the two registered packages.

Hotel renovations require careful coordination between room turnover, public access, finishes and building services. The construction significance here is the combination of a substantial repeated-room program and a separate multi-space public-area refurbishment. Trade requirements and any equipment replacement should be confirmed from the eventual construction documents, rather than inferred from the headline budgets.
