Laredo Plans State Park Entrance and Headquarters Relocation

The Lake Casa Blanca access program is tied to Loop 20 improvements, with construction proposed for late 2027.
Plans for a relocated entrance at Lake Casa Blanca International State Park are progressing alongside the wider Loop 20 highway program in Laredo. October 14 local reporting describes a replacement access route and park headquarters, following a presentation to Webb County commissioners.
The proposal moves the main entrance away from Bob Bullock Loop toward Ranchito Road. It includes vehicle queuing lanes, parking and an exit route as well as the headquarters building.

Road changes affect the park’s daily operation
Relocating an entrance changes how visitors reach the park and how arriving traffic is managed. The proposed queuing arrangement is intended to provide space for vehicles before they pass into the park, rather than treating the work as only a replacement driveway.
The road and building elements have to function together. Access, visitor processing and departure routes are all part of the intended operation. The published account does not establish final construction packages or the identity of a civil contractor.
A future program, with dates still to confirm
The reported schedule points to a November 2027 construction start and January 2029 headquarters opening. These are planned milestones, not evidence of an award or current field mobilization.
Texas Parks and Wildlife, TxDOT and Webb County are involved in the wider coordination. The next useful documents are the final scope, procurement notices and any approved construction contract.
Keep neighboring works separate
The nearby golf-course redesign has its own reported cost estimates. Those figures should not be transferred to the state park entrance project, for which a construction value has not been established.
The park’s access changes are a useful civil and public-facility pipeline item, but they remain distinct from the overall cost and schedule of the highway widening.
