Boring Company Begins Work on Morgan’s San Antonio Tunnel

The Boring Company worksite entrance beside Morgan’s Wonderland

On-site reporting identifies excavation, heavy equipment and tunnel-liner components at Morgan’s Inclusion Tunnel.

The Boring Company has established a construction site for Morgan’s Inclusion Tunnel in San Antonio, moving the project beyond an announcement into visible site activity. October 14 reporting by the San Antonio Express-News describes heavy equipment, excavation and precast tunnel-liner components near Morgan’s Wonderland.

The proposed connection is intended to link the theme park with nearby Morgan’s facilities, including a 93-room hotel, the Multi-Assistance Center and Morgan’s Wonder Care. Plans place the route near Wurzbach Parkway, David Edwards Drive and Quarry Park.

A transport link within an accessibility-focused destination

Morgan’s operates a group of facilities centered on inclusion and services for people of different abilities. A transport connection between those destinations would serve a different purpose from an intercity transit line: it would help move visitors between facilities within the local campus area.

Tesla vehicles are expected to carry passengers. The proposed tunnel has an outer diameter of approximately 13.5 feet. Neither that dimension nor the planned vehicle type establishes the eventual passenger capacity, operating frequency or completed accessibility arrangements. Those details will matter when the system moves toward service.

Site work and tunneling are separate milestones

The newspaper identified city permits as well as an established worksite. Excavation and the presence of liner components are meaningful construction indicators, but they should not be treated as proof that a tunnel-boring machine has begun excavating the full alignment.

The next construction milestones would include confirmed tunneling progress, installation of the permanent tunnel systems and testing of the passenger operation. A completion date and total project investment have not been confirmed in the material reviewed.

Delivery responsibilities still to emerge

The Boring Company is the tunnel developer and construction company. Separate civil subcontractors, the precast supplier and electrical or ventilation installation firms have not been identified. The availability of liner components on site does not establish who manufactured or supplied them.

This is a distinct project from the proposed tunnel near Tesla’s Giga Texas campus and the Colorado River. The San Antonio story concerns observed work at Morgan’s; the Austin-area story concerns a separate planning proposal. Keeping those projects separate is essential when tracking permits, contractors and field progress.

The hotel is a separate construction program

The hotel connected by the proposed route is itself a substantial campus addition. Its state accessibility registration describes a three-level, 70,340-square-foot building with 93 rooms and a $16 million estimated construction value. Those figures belong to the hotel; they are not the budget or floor area of the tunnel.

The registration’s estimated October 2026 completion date does not verify that the hotel has opened. The tunnel also has its own delivery requirements, and the hotel’s schedule should not be used as a substitute for a confirmed tunnel completion date. Following the two programs separately will show when the destinations and their transport link become operational.

How the tunneling system fits the project

The Boring Company’s Prufrock platform is designed to install precast lining while advancing, with remote operation from its Bastrop control center. The company describes an integrated model in which it designs its machines, tunnel liners and transport system. Those statements explain the technology platform; they do not establish every supplier or subcontract for Morgan’s.

A machine’s advertised production target is not a forecast for the complete campus connection. Preparation, launch and recovery, stations, permanent services and testing all sit around the excavation stage. Ground conditions and the approved construction sequence will affect how those activities are delivered.

The machinery photographs supplied for this project show transport and lifting operations. They provide useful construction context, but do not by themselves confirm the date on which excavation of the passenger alignment began. The member profile keeps those photographs together in the campus construction gallery.
