The October awards combine highway improvements, routine maintenance and a new San Marcos facility.

The Texas Transportation Commission has awarded $405 million in construction contracts for 35 highway improvement projects, adding a substantial package of work to the state’s transportation program.

Commissioners also awarded $50 million across 23 routine maintenance contracts and $16.8 million to build a new TxDOT maintenance facility in San Marcos. Together, the three categories represent $471.8 million in announced contracts.

The awards span improvements to highways, upkeep of existing infrastructure and construction of a facility supporting TxDOT’s operations. Highway improvements account for approximately 86% of the combined value.

The commission awarded the contracts through the state’s competitive low-bid process. Individual winning contractors, project locations and construction schedules were not identified in the summary announcement.

For heavy-civil contractors, specialist subcontractors and suppliers, the package represents work across multiple projects rather than one statewide construction contract. The separate awards will have their own scopes, delivery requirements and schedules.

The maintenance contracts provide another stream of activity alongside the larger highway improvement program. Meanwhile, the San Marcos facility adds a distinct building project to the announced workload.

The combined $471.8 million total is calculated from the three contract categories reported by TxDOT. It should remain separate from other funding allocations discussed at the same meeting. TxDOT’s October announcement
