T1 Energy Signs 1.58GW of Solar Supply Deals as Rockdale Factory Advances

The agreements add future demand for modules expected to incorporate cells from the company’s Texas manufacturing expansion.
T1 Energy has announced more than 1.58GW of new solar module supply agreements, adding commercial commitments as its G2_Austin solar cell factory in Rockdale moves toward production.
The agreements include contracts with Avantus subsidiaries, with deliveries expected during 2027 and 2028.
T1 expects the modules to use a combination of imported cells and cells manufactured at G2_Austin. The announcement therefore links future product deliveries with the company’s developing Texas production capabilities.
The company says more than 4GW of its 2027 manufacturing capacity is contracted, providing a wider indication of committed demand.
At Rockdale, the first 2.1GW phase of G2_Austin is expected to begin producing cells in the first quarter of 2027. The facility remains under construction, making equipment installation, commissioning and production readiness central to the delivery program.
The project’s construction team is already partly established. Yates Construction was identified as general contractor in T1’s March SEC-filed presentation, while SSOE Group is providing project engineering. Laplace was identified in connection with the production-line equipment contract.
The factory’s previously announced $850 million planned investment dates to June 2025. The October announcement adds supply agreements rather than a new $850 million capital commitment.
For construction readers, the distinction is between the commercial and physical sides of the development. The new contracts support the future manufacturing workload, while the factory’s remaining construction and commissioning activities determine when domestic cell production can contribute to deliveries.
