A public survey open through Dec. 19 will help shape a long-term program of improvements along the highway, with the study due in late 2027.

The Texas Department of Transportation has opened a public survey for its US 83 Texas Corridor Study, the agency announced Nov. 4. The study covers US 83 from Carrizo Springs to the Texas–Oklahoma state line.

The corridor crosses West, Central and South Texas, linking communities from the Winter Garden region near the border to the Panhandle.

The study will assess pavement condition, roadway capacity, safety, traffic operations and future transportation needs along the route. TxDOT said the findings will help establish a long-term program of potential improvements.

Public feedback will be accepted through Dec. 19, 2026. The study is scheduled to be completed in late 2027.

The study is a planning effort. No construction budget, project list or contract award has been announced, and any resulting projects would be developed and funded separately.
