Corpus Christi schedules $15.8M Alameda Street reconstruction

The Bond 2022-funded rebuild between Airline and Everhart roads is scheduled from November 4, with about two years of roadway and utility work.
Corpus Christi scheduled construction to begin November 4 on the $15.8 million reconstruction of Alameda Street between Airline Road and Everhart Road. The city project page lists that start date; independent confirmation of the first field work was not available at this review.
City Council awarded the contract to Bay Ltd. on Feb. 10. The city now lists the contractor as Texas Material, formerly Bay Ltd.
The first phase runs through May 2027. Westbound lanes are closed from Airline Road to Eldon Drive, with traffic running in both directions on the eastbound side. Later phases are tentatively set to start in May 2027, September 2027 and February 2028.
The work replaces the roadway with concrete pavement and adds new curbs, sidewalks, ADA ramps, traffic signals and street lighting. Crews will also replace storm, water and wastewater lines beneath the street.
Avalon Street and Robert Drive are being rebuilt as part of the project.
The project is in Council District 2 and is funded through the city's 2022 bond program. It is expected to take about two years. City materials describe the work in five phases, though some list up to seven.
Utility subcontractors have not been identified.
