HD Hyundai and Kiewit signing ceremony

The proposed Ingleside development would combine advanced shipbuilding technology with Kiewit’s large-scale fabrication capabilities, with construction targeted for 2027.

Kiewit and South Korean shipbuilding group HD Hyundai have announced plans for a new shipyard in Ingleside, setting out a major industrial development that could support up to 3,000 jobs on the Texas coast.

The companies propose to establish HD Kiewit Shipbuilding LLC, a joint venture between Kiewit Maritime Co. and HD Hyundai USA. Construction is targeted for 2027, with full-scale operations expected in 2029.

The purpose-built yard would occupy an existing industrial site with deepwater Gulf access, providing a location suited to vessel construction and the movement of large fabricated structures.
