DFW Airport Weighs $660M Increase for American Airlines’ Terminal F Fit-Out

The proposal would raise the reimbursement ceiling to $710 million for work within Terminal F’s first phases.
DFW International Airport is considering a $660 million increase to its Terminal F reimbursement agreement with American Airlines. The proposal would raise the agreement’s maximum value from $50 million to $710 million, expanding the funding available to finish airline and airport spaces within the first stages of the new terminal. The item is on the November 3 committee agenda, with a board vote scheduled for November 5.
Terminal F’s shell and core are already under construction. The proposed agreement covers interior and exterior work within the Phase 1 and 1A footprint, including the finish-out of airport and airline spaces and the purchase of furniture and equipment for gates and passenger hold rooms.
The $710 million figure is the proposed ceiling for that reimbursement agreement. It excludes $136.5 million in owner contingency and $119 million in mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment purchased directly. A separate funding request is expected for the Phase 2 headhouse and garage. The agenda materials supplied for this story do not identify the fit-out contractor.
The same agenda includes $7.82 million to convert four regional gates at the Terminal E Satellite into three mainline gates. The item lists Diversified Electrical Solutions, Denali CS, Garland Glass & Mirror, Momentum Mechanical and Carrco Painting as small-business subcontractors.
Other proposals include two $5 million job-order contracts for Phillips/May Corp. and METCO Engineering, an increase from $40 million to $55 million for the STV–AZB landside construction management contract, and $4.8 million in lighting-vault equipment from Wesco and MTU America.
