The draft long-range plan includes more than 80 major road and highway projects. Individual construction awards would follow separate approvals and funding.

The Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is seeking feedback on a draft $39.2 billion transportation plan for Greater San Antonio. The Mobility 2050 update covers Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall and eastern Medina counties, setting out proposed investments in roads, highways, transit and walking and cycling connections.

The draft identifies more than 80 major road and highway projects. Among the larger proposals are improvements to I-10, Loop 1604 and SH 211, along with the proposed South Texas Parkway near Toyota’s manufacturing campus. Those projects cover established highway corridors as well as a proposed new route, with individual scopes and delivery schedules to be worked out separately.

TxDOT would deliver most of the highway projects, while the Alamo Regional Mobility Authority would oversee certain others. The $39.2 billion represents proposed investment across the long-range plan. How and when an individual project moves forward will depend on its funding, design, approvals and procurement.

The current consultation gives residents and local agencies a chance to weigh in on which projects should be priorities. The draft is expected to go before the MPO Transportation Policy Board on January 25, 2027. Board consideration would be a planning milestone, with contractor selection and construction awards handled separately as individual projects advance.
