Energy Transfer Announces Frac X at Mont Belvieu and Bear II Permian Plant

The Dallas-based midstream company guided to about $7 billion of growth capital in 2027 as it adds Texas processing and fractionation capacity.
Energy Transfer plans a new natural gas liquids fractionator at Mont Belvieu and a new natural gas processing plant in the Permian Basin, the company said in third-quarter results released Nov. 3.
Frac X will be able to process 200,000 barrels a day of natural gas liquids. It is expected to enter service in the first half of 2029 at Mont Belvieu in Chambers County.
Bear II is a 200 million cubic feet per day cryogenic processing plant to be built next to the company's existing Bear plant in the Delaware Basin. It is due in the third quarter of 2027. The company did not disclose costs for either project or name contractors.
The company also reported progress on projects already under way. Its 275 million cubic feet per day Mustang Draw II plant in the Midland Basin entered service in October.
The first phase of the Hugh Brinson Pipeline, which moves natural gas from the Permian Basin to North Texas, went into full service Sept. 1, ahead of schedule. The second phase is due in the first quarter of 2027, and the company expects the project to come in under budget.
Energy Transfer reported third-quarter growth capital spending of $1.30 billion. It expects growth capital of $5.4 billion to $5.6 billion for 2026 and about $7 billion in 2027 across its system.
Separately, the company is acquiring Vaquero Midstream for about $2.6 billion, with closing expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
