The garage is open for Toyota Center events; the first phase of the convention district project, with a 700,000-square-foot convention center extension, is on track for May 2028.
Houston First Corp. has completed the 1,000-space GRB South parking garage at 1835 Bell St. in downtown Houston. The garage is now serving Toyota Center events. It will later open to Hilton Americas-Houston guests and the public.
The garage's opening allowed the 660-space Avenida Central garage beneath Discovery Green to reopen for public parking.
GRB South is part of Phase 1 of Houston First's Convention District Transformation Project. Phase 1 also includes a 700,000-square-foot extension of the George R. Brown Convention Center and a 100,000-square-foot event plaza.
Phase 1 is on track to open in May 2028.
Hines is serving as project manager, and Populous is the designer. Gilbane Building Co. and Flintco Construction are building the project. Houston First has not disclosed the cost of the garage or of Phase 1.
