IKEA Files $18 Million Renovation at The Woodlands Mall

IKEA Property Inc. has filed plans for an $18 million interior renovation at The Woodlands Mall. The November 4 state registration identifies the development as Project Woodlands and puts the work in Suite 500 at 1201 Lake Woodlands Drive. It covers 150,657 square feet and identifies Ware Malcomb as the design firm.

The project begins with interior demolition and includes new partitions, plumbing fixtures and a showroom. The work will reconfigure the existing space for IKEA's display and retail functions. The filing gives the overall area of the renovation, with the detailed allocation between showroom space, food service and other interior uses still to be disclosed.
