Silver Basin’s 180MW Data Center Secures Reported Power Approval

The reported October 15 decision concerns a connection behind Taygete II solar generation; campus construction remains a separate milestone.

Silver Basin Digital Infrastructure’s proposed Pecos County data center has reached a reported electricity-approval milestone. The Texas Dispatch reports that the Public Utility Commission approved its behind-the-meter arrangement on October 15, with detailed coverage published October 19.

The arrangement pairs a proposed 180MW load with the existing 204MW Taygete II solar facility. The solar nameplate rating and data-center demand describe different parts of the arrangement and should not be combined into a campus capacity figure.

Approval of the power arrangement

The reported decision includes operating and emergency-curtailment conditions. It concerns how the proposed customer connects with generation and the wider power system; it does not establish that every building permit, financing commitment or construction package is complete.

The regulatory reporting examines system effects from late 2027. That date is not a verified building completion or opening date.

Construction intelligence still developing

The underlying signed order was not accessible for independent review in this preview. The approval is therefore presented as reported, rather than as a newly inspected primary-source decision.

No verified construction budget, campus general contractor or electrical installation appointment has been established. Further coverage should distinguish the approved electricity arrangement from a confirmed field start and the release of individual construction packages.
