San Antonio’s $160M Ballpark Faces Financing Pressure
Rendering of the proposed ballpark and surrounding development.

The proposed downtown Missions stadium remains targeted for a 2029 opening, with financing for surrounding development required before public bonds can be issued.

San Antonio’s proposed $160 million downtown baseball stadium is facing financing challenges as higher construction costs and interest rates put pressure on the wider development.

The 4,500-seat ballpark would become the home of the San Antonio Missions. Its financing is linked to adjacent development led by Weston Urban.

Before public bonds can be issued, Weston Urban must secure financing for the first phase of that development, which includes more than 600 apartments and a hotel.

The stadium remains targeted for a 2029 opening. Construction would need to begin by late spring 2027 to maintain that schedule. The project remains proposed and has not been cancelled.
