Amazon’s 1.2M-SF Manufacturing Facility Advances in Austin

Project Toaster holds foundation permits for a southeast Austin robotics factory, with a $100 million core-and-shell filing and construction scheduled for November.
Amazon’s proposed robotics manufacturing facility is advancing at 475 Patton Avenue in southeast Austin. Known as Project Toaster, the approximately 1.2 million-square-foot building holds city foundation permits.
An October 19 state registration lists a $100 million core-and-shell construction package, with WSP USA as the design firm. The building includes office, factory, casting and utility-plant areas.
The filed schedule runs from November 16, 2026, through July 13, 2027. Amazon projects approximately 300–500 manufacturing and engineering jobs.
The facility forms part of the wider Dog’s Head development, where environmental groups and residents are challenging development and financing agreements. Amazon announced its broader investment in August; the latest filing adds building-level construction details.
