Leprino Completes $35M Manufacturing Expansion in Lubbock

The completed expansion quadruples Leprino Nutrition’s microparticulated whey protein production capacity and adds approximately 20 million pounds of annual capacity.
Leprino Nutrition has completed a $35 million expansion at its Lubbock manufacturing facility, adding production capacity for specialty whey protein ingredients.
Announced October 27, the investment quadruples the company’s microparticulated whey protein capacity and adds approximately 20 million pounds of annual product capacity.
The expansion adds specialty processing to the facility’s sweet whey operation. Lubbock now complements Leprino’s existing microparticulated production facility in Fort Morgan, Colorado, giving the business two locations dedicated to the product format.
Microparticulated protein is used to increase protein content while maintaining texture in foods and beverages. Applications include desserts, baked goods, snacks, dips, sauces and ice cream.
The project is complete. Leprino did not identify the general contractor or process-equipment installation contractors in its announcement.
