A proposed semiconductor testing operation has cleared an incentive milestone as Fort Worth competes for the investment.

Fort Worth has approved a tax-abatement package intended to bring a major semiconductor testing operation to its southern industrial corridor.

City Council voted October 27 to support AeternZ Semiconductor Testing Corporation’s proposed investment of at least $1.3 billion at 273 W. Everman Parkway. The company is a subsidiary of Taiwan-based King Yuan Electronics.

The proposed operation would use advanced testing equipment and controlled clean-room space to evaluate semiconductor performance. Its role would be testing chips rather than manufacturing wafers.

The agreement provides up to a 65% abatement of qualifying incremental city property taxes over 10 years. In return, the proposal calls for approximately 630 full-time jobs with average annual pay of about $80,000.

The council decision gives Fort Worth an incentive framework as it seeks to secure the facility. A confirmed construction timetable and contractor appointments have not been announced.
