Texas Pacifico Selected for $35.24M West Texas Rail Upgrade

Track rehabilitation, 12 crossings and two sidings form the largest Texas-listed selection in the latest CRISI round.
Texas Pacifico Transportation has been selected for up to $35.24 million in federal funding to rehabilitate and improve its West Texas rail infrastructure. The program covers work in the Alpine–Presidio corridor and combines track-condition improvements with operating-capacity measures.
The identified scope includes rail installation, replacement ties, ballast restoration, rehabilitation of 12 grade crossings, yard improvements and two additional sidings. The selection is a funding milestone, not the announcement of a prime-contractor award.

A corridor package with several work types
The mix of track, crossings and yard work makes this more than a single linear replacement job. Each element serves a different part of railway operations: track condition affects reliability, crossings connect the line to roads and sidings provide operating flexibility.
The public description does not divide the program into separate contracts or publish quantities for every segment. It therefore supports an assessment of the broad work types, but not a claim that individual civil, track or systems packages are already open to tender.
What makes the award relevant to West Texas
The corridor is important to freight movement through the region. Improvements to existing infrastructure can support more dependable service and industrial logistics without requiring a completely new route. The selected works should be evaluated on that basis rather than as evidence of an unrelated development starting nearby.
No construction start, completion date or delivery contractor has been confirmed in the reviewed material. Design and procurement updates will be needed to establish the actual delivery sequence.
Follow the project beyond the funding announcement
The next useful disclosures would identify where each work area falls, how construction will interact with operating trains and which organizations will deliver the packages. Those details will turn a large funding selection into a clearer construction program.
Until then, the $35.24 million figure should retain its federal-selection label. It is not necessarily the total project cost and should not be used as the value of a construction contract that has not been announced.
