The opening expands university teaching and research space; published project-value and floor-area figures describe different accounts of the facility.

Texas A&M University–San Antonio has celebrated the opening of its Public Health and Education Building. The university’s October 22 announcement describes a $55 million investment supporting health education, research and workforce development.

The building brings together classrooms, research laboratories and administrative space. It supports the College of Education and Human Development, the Community Health Program and the Genetics and Genomics Group, according to the university.

Two published measures of scope

The university describes the facility as approximately 35,000 square feet. The contractor’s project page instead describes a 55,800-square-foot academic building and an estimated construction cost of $31.874 million. These figures are attributed separately because the reviewed materials do not explain a common measurement basis.

A construction-only estimate and total project value can cover different categories of expenditure. Likewise, floor-area descriptions can reflect different scope definitions. Neither explanation should be assumed to resolve this particular discrepancy without confirmation.

An opening rather than a new construction award

The news milestone is the building’s opening. Earlier project schedules and construction completion estimates describe a different stage and should not be reported as dates for this ceremony. The contractor’s page includes historical December 2025 and January 2026 scheduling references.

The completed facility adds teaching and research capacity to the campus. It is not an announcement of a newly available building contract. Confirmed construction and design appointments are available in the member section, while no new specialty package awards are asserted.
